Is NFL Extra Points Credit Card worth it?

NFL Extra Points Credit Card is a solid card for NFL fans. The sign up bonus of 10,000 bonus points after $500 in purchases in the first 90 days is worth $100 in statement credit. Cardholders earn 2 points per $1 on NFL and team purchases like eligible NFL tickets, in stadium, NFLShop.com, at team pro shops, and on NFL DirecTV purchases. 2 points per $1 is an average rewards rate, especially when you consider that for most people NFL purchases are not something you make everyday. However, the most valuable perk provided by NFL Extra Points Credit Card may be 20% off purchases at NFLShop.com. If you are an NFL fan or know one, this might be a great no-annual card to apply for simply for the NFL gear discount.

  • Earn 10,000 bonus points after $500 in purchases in the first 90 days, enough to redeem for $100 cash back

Is Wyndham Rewards Visa Signature No Annual Fee worth it?

Wyndham Rewards Visa Signature No Annual Fee is a great card for people who stay at Wyndham properties from time to time. Wyndham operates 9,000+ hotels, including La Quinta, Ramada, Days Inn, Baymont, Super 8, Howard Johnson, Wyndham Vacation Rentals, and has partnerships with Caesars Entertainment hotels. Unlike the Wyndham Rewards Visa Signature Annual Fee, this no annual fee version does not have an anniversary point bonus.

The rewards rate is 13 points total per $1 at Wyndham properties and 2 points per $1 on eligible gas, utility and grocery store purchases (excluding Target and Walmart).

Hotel rewards rates generally offer a lot of points per $1. Wyndham Rewards Visa Signature No Annual Fee?s points are worth less than one cent per night. Take the Art Hotel Laguna Beach, part of the Trademark Collection by Wyndham hotel and considered a lifestyle hotel by Wyndham, one $110 night could be purchased for 15,000 points. That’s $.007 per point. A more upscale Wyndham brand, Cheyenne Mountain Resort Colorado Springs, A Dolce Resort, would cost 30,000 points for a $159 per night room, bringing the redemption even lower to $0.005.

You also receive Gold membership, including complimentary priority phone line at Member Services, preferred room selection, late checkout, and a 10% accelerated earning points bonus on bonus points at qualified stays. In plain English, this means you get 10% more points than the points you would have otherwise received for booking the stay.

There are two types of Wyndham Resorts redemption, Go Free, where you get the stay for free. and Go Free where you pay with a combination of points and cash. For longer stays, you can use multiple Go Free nights in a row, or you can use a Go Free night and then a Go fast night, although you may have to check out and check back in to achieve this, depending on the hotel.

The signup bonus of 15,000 points is enough for at least 1 night at hotels that are relatively upscale, as defined by Wyndham, and up to 2 nights at hotels that are relatively budget-oriented.

To decide if the card is worth renewing, let’s look at how much it takes to earn a free night. If you were to book 10 $110 nights with your Wyndham Rewards Visa Signature No Annual Fee card, you would receive one $110 night worth 15,000 points. In contrast, it would take you only 1 booking to get the free night with the annual fee version of this card, which costs $75 annually to renew and comes with 6,000 bonus points each year. That said, with no annual fee, there’s no downside to getting this card, and if you stay at Wyndham hotels enough to earn free nights, Wyndham Rewards Visa Signature No Annual Fee is a great card for you.

Pros

  • Earn 15,000 bonus points after your first purchase
  • Earn 3 points per $1 spent on eligible purchases made at participating By Wyndham hotels, Wyndham Vacation Rental North America properties, and Wyndham timeshare properties
  • Automatically receive a Wyndham Rewards Gold Membership and enjoy perks like preferred room selection, late checkout and more
  • No foreign transaction fee

Is Wyndham Rewards Visa Signature Annual Fee worth it?

Wyndham Rewards Visa Signature Annual Fee is a great card for people who want the highest rewards rate and a point bonus towards a stay at Wyndham properties. Wyndham operates 9,000+ hotels, including La Quinta, Ramada, Days Inn, Baymont, Super 8, Howard Johnson, Wyndham Vacation Rentals, and has partnerships with Caesars Entertainment hotels.

The rewards rate is 15 points total per $1 at Wyndham properties and 2 points per $1 on eligible gas, utility and grocery store purchases (excluding Target and Walmart).

A more upscale Wyndham brand, Cheyenne Mountain Resort Colorado Springs, A Dolce Resort, would cost 30,000 points for a $159 per night room, bringing the redemption even lower to $0.005.

You also receive Platinum membership, including early check-in, preferred room selection, late checkout, and a 15% accelerated earning points bonus on bonus points at qualified stays. In plain English, this means you get 15% more points than the points you would have otherwise received for booking the stay.

There are two types of Wyndham Resorts redemption, Go Free, where you get the stay for free. and Go Free where you pay with a combination of points and cash. The signup bonus of 30,000 points is enough for at least 2 nights at hotels that are relatively upscale, as defined by Wyndham, and up to 4 nights at hotels that are relatively budget-oriented.

If you want to redeem points for the upscale hotels, it will take a number of hotel stays, even with the high 15 points per $1 total rewards rate. For example, including the 15% bonus for being a Platinum member, it takes booking eleven $159 hotels with your Wyndham Rewards Visa Signature Annual Fee card to earn enough points to exceed the value needed for another $159 night worth 30,000 points.

If you stay at Wyndham hotels and want an annual point bonus to get you another stay along with the highest rewards rate, Wyndham Rewards Visa Signature Annual Fee is a great card for you.

JetBlue Plus Card is like the JetBlue Card, except JetBlue Plus’ signup bonus is 4X higher and the earning rate on JetBlue purchases is 2X higher.

Valuing JetBlue points conservatively at one cent per point, the signup bonus is worth $400 in JetBlue travel. You get Points Pooling with TrueBlue points as well, which allows you and up to 7 friends and family members to combine points to earn awards faster with no point transfer fee.

One thing that is particular to JetBlue among airlines is that you can’t transfer JetBlue points to any other airlines, but you can redeem them on Hawaiian Airlines.

Besides JetBlue flights, you can earn points by the mile flown by adding your TrueBlue number during the booking process on Hawaiian Airlines, Emirates, Singapore Airlines, Icelandair, JSX, Silver Airways, Singapore Airlines, and South African Airways. Most partners offer earnings starting at 1 Point / 2 miles flown and different seating areas have different rewards. If you’re in frequent flyer programs with any of these other airlines, check the value of your ticket before you make the TrueBlue purchase to make sure it’s worth it to book with TrueBlue, because you can only earn rewards from one program for your flight.

If you rarely fly JetBlue but are interested in JetBlue Plus to get started, consider that JetBlue tied with Southwest Airlines for the top place in customer satisfaction among North American low-cost carriers, according to JD Power. Even if you don?t fly JetBlue regularly, if you fly JetBlue at all and get $100 of value on waived first checked bag fees, flight redemptions, or through pooling JetBlue points, this is a great card for you.

Pros

  • Earn 40,000 bonus points after spending $1,000 on purchases in the first 90 days and paying the annual fee
  • Earn 6X points on JetBlue purchases
  • Earn 5,000 bonus points every year after your account anniversary
  • No foreign transaction fee

Cons

  • Fewer perks than other travel cards
  • $99 annual fee

Is JetBlue Business Card worth it?

JetBlue Business Card is a great card for JetBlue business travelers. Cardholders earn 50,000 points after spending $1,000 in the first 90 days and earn 10,000 additional points when a purchase is made on an employee card in the first 90 days.

To find out how much 60,000 points is worth, we looked at the price of a roundtrip flight from ORD Chicago O?Hare to MCO Orlando International Airport departing on Christmas and returning on New Year?s Day booked two months in advance. The cost would be 106,200 points or $1108, valuing the points on one cent apiece and making the 60,000 signup bonus worth $600 in JetBlue travel.

Now to find out if the card is worth renewing for $99, let’s assume you travel six times a year on flights having the same value as the example, $1108 and you don’t use this card for any other purchases. If you use points to book three of those six flights, which won’t earn you more points, and use JetBlue Business Card to book the three other flights, your three flights booked with JetBlue Business Card would earn you $550 in JetBlue travel.

If you add the 5,000 bonus points every year after your account anniversary, which is worth $50 as long as you use it, you have $600 in JetBlue travel. This is enough for a one-way ticket portion of the $1108 flight example we have been using from Chicago to Orlando.

On this flight, the one-way tickets cost the same as for the roundtrip, so you could book one flight with points and the other with your JetBlue Business Card and you will have successfully redeemed $600 in JetBlue travel, more than paying for the $99 annual fee. One-way tickets are typically a little more expensive if they are premium tickets typically purchased by business travelers, but less expensive for discount airlines. What this means for you is that if you are set on flying in first class or business class, which is called Mint on JetBlue, you may have to earn more points to make sure you have enough for the flight you want.

Note that when you book a JetBlue flight, three popular options for the regular class seating are the Blue fare, Blue Plus Fare, or Blue Flex fare. The item that might make the biggest difference in choosing between the options is checked bags.

Checked bags are typically $30 for the first bag and $40 for the second bag. The Blue fare doesn’t include checked bags, while the Blue Plus fare includes one free checked bag and costs about $15 more than the Blue fare, which makes it a financial sensible option. The Blue Flex fare includes two free checked bags and costs about $100 more than a Blue fare. $100 is more than just paying for the checked bags would cost, but you also get no change fees and free same-day changes.

Change fees are relatively complicated, because they increase with flight price. For example, the lowest tier, for fares up to $99, has change fees which are $75 for Plus and Blue. The highest tier, for fares $200 or more, has change fees which are $200. Same-day changes cost $75, but again on Blue Flex they are free.

While the normal rate is 6X points on JetBlue purchases, Blue Plus earns you 7X and Blue Flex earn 8x. You also get 300 points for every JetPaws fee, the JetBlue program to bring your pet to your destination with you, which is $125 each way.

After spending $50,000 or more on purchases each calendar year, you earn Mosaic benefits, which include a free first and second checked bag, no change and cancellation fees for anyone on the itinerary, early boarding, an expedited security checkpoint line, and complimentary alcoholic beverages onboard.

If you fly JetBlue regularly for business, this is a great card for you.

Pros

  • Earn 50,000 points after spending $1,000 in the first 90 days and earn 10,000 points when a purchase is made on an employee card in the first 90 days
  • Earn 5,000 bonus points every year after your account anniversary
  • TrueBlue points don’t expire
  • 6X points on JetBlue purchases
  • Get 10% points rebate when you redeem your points for an award flight

  • Get 5% Rewards back every time you redeem, as a bonus to use toward your next redemption
  • Earn a $250 Vacation Credit towards one RCI vacation when you spend $10,000 in net purchases each calendar year

Is RCI Elite Rewards MasterCard worth it?

RCI Elite Rewards MasterCard is a solid card for RCI members and people who utilite RCI services. Membership is limited to people owning a timeshare at an RCI affiliated resort. RCI calls themselves the largest timeshare vacation exchange network in the world, and there are nearly 4 million members.

Although RCI sounds exclusive to members only, there is a program called RCI Platinum ? an $89 membership that provides discounts on select vacations booked through your account, including 25% off Guest Certificates you can share with family and friends. They are basically providing you the opportunity to purchase discounted gift cards redeemable for RCI purchases.

The rewards rate for RCI purchases is great: RCI Elite Rewards MasterCard cardholders earn 5X Rewards for every $1 spent on all eligible RCI purchases and 2X Rewards for every $1 spent on all eligible travel purchases. It’s a good rewards rate, because the points are worth about one cent. Other RCI currency, like RCI points, can sometimes be worth less; for example, a one-day car rental with Avis to and from JFK in New York cost $70 or about 8,000 RCI points. That’s less than one cent per point.

All in all, RCI Elite Rewards MasterCard is a solid card for RCI timeshare owners already spending money with RCI, who would like to travel more with RCI, but at a discount by redeeming their Rewards.

Pros

  • 5X Rewards for every $1 spent on all eligible RCI purchases
  • 2X Rewards for every $1 spent on all eligible travel purchases
  • Travel purchases and redemptions are reasonably defined as Airlines, Hotels, Motels, Campgrounds, Car Rental Agencies, Cruise Lines, Travel Agencies, Discount Travel Sites, Trains, Buses, Taxis, Limousines, and Ferries
  • You get a $250 Vacation Credit towards one RCI vacation when you spend $10,000 in net purchases each calendar year. You cannot combine vacation credits, but cardholders have a full 13 months from the date they receive their $250 vacation credit to use it.
  • No foreign transaction fee
  • No annual fee

Cons

  • Make sure you’re ready to go when you book with your vacation credit – no refunds will be granted 30 days or fewer from the check-in date
  • No cash back with this card

Is Mastercard Gold Card worth it?

Mastercard Gold Card is a solid card for luxury consumers who like gold. To start, the card offers its own concierge to assist you with travel bookings, various personal requests and much more. The card also offers you an average value of $500 in travel benefits and services per 3-day hotel stay. Amenities and services may include resort or spa credits, complimentary food and beverages, room upgrades and welcome perks. The rewards rate for Mastercard Gold Card is lower than average: cardholders earn one point for every one dollar you spend. The mid-tier version of Mastercard Gold Card is called the Mastercard Black Card, and it has almost the exact same benefits as Mastercard Gold Card except it has a 1.5% cash back redemption rate instead of 2% cash back redemption that the Gold Card has. Most importantly, it has a $495 annual fee. For cardholders who take advantage of all the perks offered by either of these two Luxury Cards, a $495 annual fee could be justified. But this card – the Mastercard Gold Card – has a steep $995 annual fee and only adds the benefit of a physical 24K-gold-plated card, so it’s not recommended for most people.

Pros

  • Luxury Card members receive a one hundred dollar ($100) automatic statement credit for the cost of the Global Entry application fee
  • Each year Luxury Card Travel offers you an average value of $500 in travel benefits and services per stay. Amenities and services may include resort or spa credits, complimentary food and beverages, room upgrades and welcome perks.

Cons

  • No sign up bonus
  • $295 for each Authorized User added to the account
  • Even with 2% cash back redemption and 2% airfare redemption offered by Mastercard? Gold Card?, the rewards rate of one point per $1 makes this rewards card below average
