Is Wyndham Rewards Visa Signature No Annual Fee worth it?

Wyndham Rewards Visa Signature No Annual Fee is a great card for people who stay at Wyndham properties from time to time. Wyndham operates 9,000+ hotels, including La Quinta, Ramada, Days Inn, Baymont, Super 8, Howard Johnson, Wyndham Vacation Rentals, and has partnerships with Caesars Entertainment hotels. Unlike the Wyndham Rewards Visa Signature Annual Fee, this no annual fee version does not have an anniversary point bonus.

The rewards rate is 13 points total per $1 at Wyndham properties and 2 points per $1 on eligible gas, utility and grocery store purchases (excluding Target and Walmart).

Hotel rewards rates generally offer a lot of points per $1. Wyndham Rewards Visa Signature No Annual Fee?s points are worth less than one cent per night. Take the Art Hotel Laguna Beach, part of the Trademark Collection by Wyndham hotel and considered a lifestyle hotel by Wyndham, one $110 night could be purchased for 15,000 points. That’s $.007 per point. A more upscale Wyndham brand, Cheyenne Mountain Resort Colorado Springs, A Dolce Resort, would cost 30,000 points for a $159 per night room, bringing the redemption even lower to $0.005.

You also receive Gold membership, including complimentary priority phone line at Member Services, preferred room selection, late checkout, and a 10% accelerated earning points bonus on bonus points at qualified stays. In plain English, this means you get 10% more points than the points you would have otherwise received for booking the stay.

There are two types of Wyndham Resorts redemption, Go Free, where you get the stay for free. and Go Free where you pay with a combination of points and cash. For longer stays, you can use multiple Go Free nights in a row, or you can use a Go Free night and then a Go fast night, although you may have to check out and check back in to achieve this, depending on the hotel.

The signup bonus of 15,000 points is enough for at least 1 night at hotels that are relatively upscale, as defined by Wyndham, and up to 2 nights at hotels that are relatively budget-oriented.

To decide if the card is worth renewing, let’s look at how much it takes to earn a free night. If you were to book 10 $110 nights with your Wyndham Rewards Visa Signature No Annual Fee card, you would receive one $110 night worth 15,000 points. In contrast, it would take you only 1 booking to get the free night with the annual fee version of this card, which costs $75 annually to renew and comes with 6,000 bonus points each year. That said, with no annual fee, there’s no downside to getting this card, and if you stay at Wyndham hotels enough to earn free nights, Wyndham Rewards Visa Signature No Annual Fee is a great card for you.

Pros

  • Earn 15,000 bonus points after your first purchase
  • Earn 3 points per $1 spent on eligible purchases made at participating By Wyndham hotels, Wyndham Vacation Rental North America properties, and Wyndham timeshare properties
  • Automatically receive a Wyndham Rewards Gold Membership and enjoy perks like preferred room selection, late checkout and more
  • No foreign transaction fee

Is Wyndham Rewards Visa Signature Annual Fee worth it?

Wyndham Rewards Visa Signature Annual Fee is a great card for people who want the highest rewards rate and a point bonus towards a stay at Wyndham properties. Wyndham operates 9,000+ hotels, including La Quinta, Ramada, Days Inn, Baymont, Super 8, Howard Johnson, Wyndham Vacation Rentals, and has partnerships with Caesars Entertainment hotels.

The rewards rate is 15 points total per $1 at Wyndham properties and 2 points per $1 on eligible gas, utility and grocery store purchases (excluding Target and Walmart).

The signup bonus of 30,000 points is enough for at least 2 nights at hotels that are relatively upscale, as defined by Wyndham, and up to 4 nights at hotels that are relatively budget-oriented.

If you want to redeem points for the upscale hotels, it will take a number of hotel stays, even with the high 15 points per $1 total rewards rate. For example, including the 15% bonus for being a Platinum member, it takes booking eleven $159 hotels with your Wyndham Rewards Visa Signature Annual Fee card to earn enough points to exceed the value needed for another $159 night worth 30,000 points.

If you stay at Wyndham hotels and want an annual point bonus to get you another stay along with the highest rewards rate, Wyndham Rewards Visa Signature Annual Fee is a great card for you.

  • Global Entry or TSA Pre Fee Credit: Earn 10,000 Bonus Points after you spend $20,000 on purchases and make one additional purchase each account anniversary year

Is IHG Rewards Club Premier worth it?

IHG Rewards Club Premier is a great card for travelers who stay at IHG hotels. IHG hotels include Holiday Inn, Candlewood Suites, Crowne Plaza, Kimpton, and InterContinental hotels. The sign up bonus is 80,000 Bonus Points after spending $2,000 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening – that’s worth about 1 hotel stay.

You also get a fourth reward night free when you redeem points for any stay of 4 or more nights. With the $89 annual fee, you also get a free anniversary night at one of IHG’s eligible Hotels & Resorts worldwide, every year, Global Entry or TSA Pre Fee Credit, and 10,000 bonus points after you spend $20,000 on purchases and make one additional purchase each account anniversary year. The anniversary night alone will cover the annual fee.

While you can redeem points for airfare, in most cases you will get 1 mile for every 5 points, so it?s not a good decision, unless the points are worth one fifth of a cent. To find the value of IHG points, we found that a 1 King Bed Superior With Balcony room at the InterContinental: Los Angeles Century City hotel was available for $284 or 65,000 points. In this case, the points would be worth 0.4 cents per dollar. At 0.4 cents per point, the Intro bonus of 80,000 points would be valued at $320. 0.4 cents per point is not a high rewards rate, but not terrible considering the annual fee is only $89 and you also receive Platinum Elite Status, which is significantly more valuable than the IHG Rewards Club Traveler’s Gold status.

While Gold status gets you a 10% point bonus on paid stays, Platinum Elite status gets you a 50% bonus on paid stays, which is allotted on top of the base points you get from this card, 10 points per $1; therefore, you are earning an extra 5 more points per $1, which when combined with your 10 points per $1 for being an IHG Rewards Club Member, gets you 25 points per $1. It’s not the simplest reward structure, and you will need to purchase a lot of stays in order to get benefit.

For example, if you booked two 5-night stays at the hotel above or a hotel with the same value over the course of the year with IHG Rewards Club Premier, you would earn 25 x 2 nights x 5 stays x $284 x $0.004 dollars per point = $284: that’s 1 free night.

With that said, IHG does offer a program called PointBreaks, allowing cardholders to book two one-night stays for as little as 5,000 points each. The IHG website breaks the eligible hotels into 5,000, 10,000 and 15,000 point redemptions. Even the 15,000 point redemption give you an improved point value and that’s even if you consider the value of a one-night stay at 15,000 point hotels to be the same as standard hotels, let?s say $100.

PointBreaks is worth your time. If you stay at IHG hotels, and especially if you use PointBreaks, IHG Rewards Club Premier is a card you will want to get for the signup bonus and the annual free anniversary night, even with the $89 annual fee.

Pros

  • Earn 60,000 Bonus Points after spending $2,000 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening
  • 25 points total per $1 spent at 5,600+ Hotels & Resorts worldwide
  • No foreign transaction fee

Cons

  • Rewards rate is very high at 25X, but points can be worth less than one half cent each even when redeemed for hotels, their most valuable redemption.

  • 30,000 bonus points – after you spend $1,000 on your card within the first 90 days – good for up to 3 Free Award Nights worldwide
  • Earn one Free Night E-Cert for each $10,000 in spend (up to $30,000), when you renew your card

Is Radisson Rewards Visa worth it?

Radisson Rewards Visa Card is a solid card for travelers who stay at Radisson hotels. Cardholders earn 3 points per $1 spent in eligible net purchases at participating Radisson Family of Hotels. You also earn 30,000 points after your first purchase, which is worth about 3 stays in a standard room at a Category 1 hotel (a single stay in a standard room at a Category 1 hotel is 9,000 points).

If you book one of these standard room stays at a Category 1 with points from your Radisson Rewards Premier Visa Signature Card, which would typically cost about $150 based on our research, each point would be worth more than one and a half cents. It’s not the best hotel point value, but it’s much better than paying cash. For travelers who use their points, Radisson Rewards Premier Visa Signature is well worth making purchases with considering it has no annual fee.

Pros

  • 30,000 bonus points – after you spend $1,000 on your card within the first 90 days
  • Earn one Free Night E-Cert for each $10,000 in spend (up to $30,000), when you renew your card by paying the annual fee
  • Radisson Rewards has airline transfer partners, including Air Canada, American Airlines, British Airways, Delta Air Lines, Frontier, Japan Airlines, and more than 10 more.

Cons

  • Foreign transaction fee
  • Free night E-Certs expire 12 months from the date of issuance
  • No Radisson Rewards loyalty program Gold tier upgrade, which is a perk offered by the $75 annual fee Radisson Rewards Premier Visa Signature Card. However, it’s free to join the Radisson Rewards loyalty program without Radisson Rewards Premier Visa Signature and you automatically receive Club status upon joining, at which point you get 20 points for hotel stay per $1 spent on eligible stays and food and beverage purchases charged to your room during an eligible stay. This is a more specific rewards criteria but one that is much more valuable than the 3 points per $1 spent in eligible net purchases at participating Radisson Family of Hotels worldwide you get with Radisson Rewards Visa Card

Is Radisson Rewards Premier Visa Signature worth it?

Radisson Rewards Premier Visa Signature Card is a great card for travelers who stay at Radisson hotels. Cardholders earn 10 points per $1 spent at participating Radisson Family of Hotels and earm 5 points per $1 spent everywhere else. Because the card offers automatic Gold status, cardholders are granted 25 extra points per $1 spend on eligible stays and food and beverage purchases charged to your room during an eligible stay, bringing the total rewards rate to 35 points per $1.

You also get 50,000 points after your first purchase, which is worth about 5 stays in a standard room at a Category 1 hotel (a single stay in a standard room at a Category 1 hotel is 9,000 points). If you book one of these standard room stays at a Category 1 with points from your Radisson Rewards? Premier Visa Signature? Card, which would typically cost about $150 based on our research, each point would be worth more than one and a half cents. It?s not the best hotel point value, but it?s much better than paying cash.

More impressive is the fact that you could spend $260 on Radisson purchases, for example on a $200 one-night hotel stay and another $60 of food and beverage purchases charged to your room during an eligible stay, and because cardholders have a rewards rate of 35 points per $1 when you combine Gold status and the Radisson Rewards Premier Visa Signature 10 point per $1 reward rate, you earn over 9,000 points just with that one-night stay, enough for another free night. For travelers who use their points, Radisson Rewards Premier Visa Signature is well worth the $75 annual fee.

Pros

  • Up to 85,000 bonus points – receive 50,000 points after your first purchase plus 35,000 points once you spend $2,500 on your card within the first 90 days – this is worth 9 free award nights worldwide at Category 1 hotels, which have standard hotel rooms

Cons

  • Free night E-Certs expire 12 months from the date of issuance
